Somos Art Project in Berlin

All For Art's Sake, Not For Profit

Ever wondered what it might feel like to be an artist in residence? “Somos” in Spanish and Portuguese translates as “we are”, and at the SomoS art project space in Berlin, you can experience an arty form of togetherness that goes far beyond the extraordinaire.
Connect with the most talented artistic forces under one productive roof and experience the unstoppable creative juices that are flowing in this groundbreaking place! With every artistic amenity you could ever dream of covered, your creative vision can and will be made here. Artists in residence, film editors, photographers, illustrators, sound engineers and graphic designers co-work and more importantly co-create along with architects, painters, sculptors, street artists and curators amongst others.

Alongside a 400sqm exhibition hall, the energetic working environment incorporates meeting and conference rooms, copious workstations, a sound studio, LED light facilities, projectors, mixing boards, high resolution scanners…the list goes on, but you get the drift, nothing is impossible. Need a break from all that work? Then sip away on a cup of freshly brewed coffee or enjoy a game of Ping-Pong in the lounge area.
It’s not all just fun and games though. Some of the most talented up-and-coming artists are ready to be discovered! Most recently Goran Tomcic & Nàndor Angstenberger presented ‘Accumulation’, a joint exhibition for which both artists combined their passion and expertise for process and materials in an unexpected way through sculptures, installations, collages and objects.

Currently on display, since April 8th, the French photographer Pauline Alioua – one of SomoS Fall 2015 Artist in Residence – is showcasing her latest work with 'Phantomatic: Nowhere to be seen', an exhibition that focuses on her latest series of black and white landscape imagery elegantly photographed with her own individual and contemporary perspective on photography. More than just a regular show, this exhibition also celebrates the release of Pauline Alioua's photographic book project that includes the entire series of more than 40 outstanding and mesmerizing photographs.
Letting creative visionaries sparkle so bright by giving them everything they need makes SomoS stand out for its original approach in art creation. If it’s your dream to live inside one giant adventurous, forever changing and inspiring work of art, then SomoS is the place for you to let your visions run wild!
